Ireland kept chipping away at the wickets since the beginning of the day and kept a leash on the hosts. But, Welch carried on from where he left off and batted with a lot of grit and determination to keep the fight on. Madhevere and Mayavo got off to starts but couldn’t capitalize. Welch fell in the nineties but the last-wicket pair of Muzarabani and Gwandu frustrated the visitors. It was looking like Ireland will gain a decent lead but the duo kept the visitors at bay and stitched a more than handy 67-run stand with Muzarabani having done the bulk of the scoring. Zimbabwe gained a slender lead but in reply, Ireland batted really well. Moor looked fluent in his short stay before a peach from Ngarava led to his dismissal. Balbirnie has been solid while Campher has looked a bit rusty but managed to dig in. The visitors lead by 76 runs and would be eyeing to take the game away from Zimbabwe on Day 3.
