Watch Draymond Green closely — he speaks just like he plays: direct and with purpose. His key values are simple but powerful: focus, determination, and teamwork. That’s what he truly believes in. As the Golden State Warriors get ready to face the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs, Green’s hunger to overcome challenges and lead his team will be crucial. One important stat to remember: Green has never lost a playoff series against the Rockets.

Draymond Green’s experience and winning mindset could be a big factor in this matchup. However, the Houston Rockets enter the series with an advantage. They are the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and have home-court advantage, giving them a slight edge against the Warriors. Despite that, Green remains confident and energised.
On Baron Davis’s podcast, the four-time NBA champion said he’s “excited” about facing the Rockets again in the postseason — a team he knows well and has beaten before. “I’m excited about the matchup,” Green said.
“This young team has gotten a lot better. And when I say gotten a lot better, like you look at the team last year, they were like the 14th seed or 12th seed or something like that last year. They’re hungry. They want what we’ve experienced before. You’ve been in that position before. You know exactly how they feel. You can always rewind back to like man, when we were in that position. You can put yourself in those shoes, which can in a sense help you prepare in a different way because of what to expect,” he added.

He further said, “I’m excited as hell about the matchup. We’ve played Ime Udoka in the playoffs in the NBA Finals. We know what his teams bring. We are the underdogs. They’re the No. 2 seed. We’re No. 7. Obviously, we don’t view ourselves as an ordinary seventh seed, but it is what it is. We’re the seventh. We’ve got to start off on the road and battle test it. It’s always fun when you get the opportunity to start on the road.”
The Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship in 2022 by defeating the Boston Celtics. But things didn’t go as planned after that — they were knocked out by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2023 playoffs and didn’t even make it to the postseason in 2024.
