Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that more Path of Exile content is in the works ahead of the now delayed 3.26 update, as the team has “adjusted some of [its] internal resources” to give players something to do in the meantime. The first PoE’s next patch was repeatedly pushed back to give Grinding Gear Games more time to work on the early access launch of Path of Exile 2, so to make up for it there’s going to be a brand new event in the first game ahead of 3.26’s launch.
Last week, Grinding Gear Games co-founder Jonathan Rogers told players that Path of Exile 3.26 was being delayed. Rogers said the team “can’t really work on Path of Exile 1 until PoE 2 0.2.0 has shipped,” which means the next update for the first installment of the action RPG series is on hold. As of right now, there’s no date for PoE 3.26, but there will be something to keep you busy in the meantime.
A new statement from the Grinding Gear Games community team confirms that Path of Exile 1 will be getting some extra content ahead of 3.26. “We have adjusted some of our internal resources to be able to provide you with some content to fill the time until that expansion arrives,” the post reads.
“To start with we’ll be running a one-month event that has some of our whacky ideas that never quite made it off the brainstorm board. What does Path of Exile 1 look like when the nineteen Ascendancy Classes you know and are familiar with are all of a sudden replaced by a different nineteen? What does Path of Exile 1 look like when you get to play a Witch and ascend to become a Harbinger? These are the questions our design team asked each other and in this event will provide you with some of our answers.”
Grinding Gear Games says it will provide more details about this event soon, but teases some truly “unhinged ideas” that will keep you busy ahead of 3.26. Players have eagerly awaited the next Path of Exile update after Settlers of Kalguur, so at least this month-long event will keep us all entertained.
It’s not like Path of Exile 2 hasn’t been a big focus for Grinding Gear Games, however. The team has been so overwhelmed by support requests that after 500,000 emails it’s apologized for the delay in getting back to them all.
