The next Path of Exile 2 update has a date, and developer Grinding Gear Games teases another class that is seemingly arriving with the long-awaited PoE 2 patch 0.2.0. We’ll be getting a full reveal of everything in the early access overhaul in a couple of weeks, with the full update arriving at the start of April. However, this timing has caused some consternation among ARPG fans due to its proximity to the start of a new season for Last Epoch.
Path of Exile 2 early access has been a resounding success for Grinding Gear Games. There have certainly been some teething issues and the endgame – for as robust as it is – will need a lot more to hold up to its predecessor as one of the best RPGs on PC. But as an initial offering, Path of Exile 2 is fresh and exciting. Patch 0.2.0 is set to expand on that with a wealth of new items, skill gems, and more, and we now know that we’ll get to play it on Friday April 4.

The new update is titled Dawn of the Hunt, and that along with the spear-wielding figures in the trailer make it pretty apparent that we should expect to get our hands on the next of the Path of Exile 2 classes, the Huntress. The pure-dexterity counterpart to the Ranger, the Huntress looks to blend melee and ranged combat together, and ranks pretty highly on my most-anticipated additions. GGG has also previously teased that we’ll be seeing some new PoE 2 Ascendancies for existing classes such as the Mercenary, too.
If you’re eager to see more, you can look forward to a livestream on Thursday March 27 at 12pm PDT / 3pm EDT / 7pm GMT / 8pm CET, which is set to reveal everything in the update alongside a community question and answer session with game directors Jonathan Rogers and Mark Roberts. Following that, GGG plans to release the full patch notes so you can start putting together your new Path of Exile 2 builds ready for launch.
The choice of date, however, has left some ARPG enjoyers a little disappointed. The update lands just two days after the start of Last Epoch Season 2, meaning players will have to choose where their priorities lie. Of course, both updates will stick around for months to come, so there’s no real pressure to rush through the two games the moment their respective patches hit, but if you enjoy playing alongside the community at launch then you’ll be forced to pick a side.
“Could not possibly have picked a worse date,” streamer Kjetil, known as ‘Zizaran,’ writes in response to the announcement. Another popular PoE 2 streamer, ‘Empyrian,’ responds, “Big oof on the launch date.” Personally, I’m also weighing up my options – I’ll certainly be playing both in the coming months, so I don’t want to come across too negatively, but I may have to hold off on spending time with the Huntress until I’ve had my fill of the new Last Epoch season.
