From the moment it was revealed, Chernobylite 2 has stood out due to its ambition. Compared to the original, it’s a massively expanded experience and strings together elements of post-apocalyptic RPGs like Fallout, realistic survival FPS games like Stalker, and even MMOs. Launched in early access just under two months ago, it’s been steadily refining the experience. But today sees its first “Megapatch” arrive, and it brings some major overhauls, technical improvements, and much more.
One of the most instantly noticeable parts of this mammoth update to the co-op RPG is the addition or replacement of hundreds of voice lines. Chernobylite 2 launched with quite a lot of placeholders, but developer The Farm 51 has finally got some voice actors in the booth to record some more emotive, high-quality interactions.
The tablet gadget is a core element of Chernobylite 2, acting as your map, compass, trackers, and more. However, previously it could only be used in first-person. The Farm 51 has now expanded its functionality to work in third-person as well, meaning those that prefer that perspective don’t have to keep switching. Speaking of switching, there is now a slick and seamless transition for when you do feel like swapping perspectives, allowing you to chop between first and third-person in a blink.
Alongside two new essence-based weapons, the Blaster energy weapon from the original Chernobylite has returned, but this time it benefits from Chernobylite 2’s wide range of customization and gun mod options. For those that enjoy ranged combat but want to keep things sneaky, you can now perform stealth eliminations with ranged weapons – previously, only melee weapons could do this. The game’s first boss fight has also been completely overhauled to be a much more difficult and memorable experience, and the first standard mission you embark on has been revamped too.

Across the board, there are new and upgraded animations, fixes for hundreds of bugs, better translations for some languages, and general stability improvements. Chernobylite 2’s huge Megapatch update is live right now.
But that’s not the only exciting announcement from The Farm 51 today. It’s also revealed an updated roadmap for the remainder of 2025 as it builds up to a 1.0 release, and it’s teasing more Megapatch-sized updates to come.
This roadmap is packed with new weapons, quests, bosses, enemy types, locations, and skills. Some core RPG features, such as a “faction world influence system” and a perks mechanic, are on the way too.
