If you’ve been itching to return to Tamriel ahead of The Elder Scrolls 6, or are already done with Oblivion Remastered, now’s the perfect time to give ESO a shot, as Zenimax is completely overhauling the MMO throughout 2025. Before The Elder Scrolls Online is transformed, however, Zenimax has a slate of events to help you level up, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or escaping the Wailing Prison for the very first time.
Earlier this year, Zenimax held an ESO Direct that promised big things for the MMO. Starting in June, not only will the game shift to a seasonal model, spreading new material out across the year instead of deploying it via one giant expansion, but you’ll have access to the all-new subclass system. The Elder Scrolls Online is about to change in some huge ways, but before then, Zenimax is filling the month of May with events and rewards.

To start, you have even more ways to earn gold in the month-long Golden Pursuits campaign. If May’s event is anything like previous versions, you can expect some limited-time activities to help you earn rewards like mounts, costumes, consumables, and a slew of useful resources. Zenimax also teases that May’s Golden Pursuits event will come with a new home, and a relic that can control the weather – you can get involved from Thursday May 1 to Thursday May 29.
Outside of Golden Pursuits, you’ll also be rewarded for logging into ESO every day throughout the month. Zenimax teases a collection of Argonian (the best Elder Scrolls race) furnishings for your virtual home, among many other things. If you’d rather get up to no good instead, daily quests for both the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood will also have bonus rewards, but only for the first week of May.
Participating in Battlegrounds PvP matches will award you an extra 25% Alliance Points for a short time, giving you even more currency to spend on upgrading your gear. Finally, you can expect a 100% XP boost right at the end of the month; from Thursday May 29 to Tuesday June 3, everything you do in ESO will yield double the experience. It’s only for that long weekend, however, so you’ll want to take advantage of the boost while it’s around.
If you want more than just ESO, we’ve also got all the biggest new MMOs you can try today. Otherwise, the best multiplayer games will keep you busy.
