Ark: Survival Evolved has made the leap from PC to mobile, with the release of Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition. But instead of being some Tamagotchi-style dinosaur-feeding game, this is Ark: Survival Evolved as you know and love it, just on a smaller screen. And it’s off to a strong start, with over one million downloads in just 24 hours.
If you’ve not played the original Ark: Survival Evolved, you’ve missed out on a treat. It’s one of the best survival games of all time, and easily the best dinosaur game. Now, thanks to Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition, out now on Android and iOS, you can take its dino-survival mayhem on the go.
What makes Ark so awesome? It’s not just that it has dinosaurs, you can tame and ride them, T-Rexes included. I don’t care how fancy your GTA Online car is, there’s nothing as cool as stomping around on an escapee from Jurassic Park and parking it outside your base.
Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition has been developed by Snail Games, with the co-operation of support of Studio Wildcard. Like the base game, it boasts multiplayer, so you can craft and base build as a team or bash heads with fellow players. It includes the original’s dino-on-dino fighting; it took nearly 30 years, but we finally got Dino-Riders: The Game.
Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition has been downloaded over a million times, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding other players. It may not look quite as pretty as the original but it’s still impressive that Snail Games have squeezed it onto mobile.
Since this is a free-to-play game, there are in-app purchases, including a subscription service which will include monthly bonuses, additional in-game content and “The ability to unlock all current and future expansions”.
The expansions in question fold in all the content from Ark: Survival Evolved. Right now, it includes every one up to Ark: Abberation, and the remainder will be added over the course of 2025.
Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition is available to download now on Android and iOS. For more mobile and free-to-play fun we’ve rounded up the best PC games on mobile and the best free games.
