Echo Point Nova is easily one of the coolest FPS games I’ve ever played. Developed by Greylock Studio, who also brought us the excellent Severed Steel, it’s an open-world movement shooter designed for co-op that also happens to feature a hoverboard and grapple hook. It has a profound sense of scale, incredible pace, and some of the slickest mobility the genre has ever seen. If you yearn for the Titanfall 3 that might never come, this is easily the next next thing.

Now, Echo Point Nova has just got even bigger. Greylock Studio has dropped a huge update for the FPS game with fresh mechanics, weapons, locations to explore, and even an all-new game mode.

By far the coolest addition in this update is the new Rogue Mode, which unsurprisingly acts like a roguelike game. Either alone or with friends in co-op you drop into wave-based combat, with randomized items, spawns, and enemies that come at you. There’s even an XP-based level up system and in-game item shop to help you fight back against the hordes.

Echo Point Nova’s map has also undergone some changes, with the new Erebus and Ironwood islands added to the world. When you arrive at each you can find a slate of new gear, such as perks and weapons.

The Super Style perk automatically slows down time whenever you do a flip (yes, this is a first-person game where you can flip on a hoverboard and shoot enemies in slow motion), and Short Circuit gives you a heal whenever you destroy a mech enemy. As for weapons, you’ve got a new machine gun and super-high rate of fire SMG, offering more ways to start blasting. You can even get some extra hoverboard stickers, if you want to spice up your ride.

Greylock Studio has dropped Echo Point Nova’s huge update on Steam now, but there is also a demo based on the game’s alpha you can play for free. Just head here.
