Mercury falls dramatically in Bhopal: At 3.6, 4th lowest Jan temp of all time

Bhopal: The night temperature in Bhopal was 3.6 degrees on Wednesday. It was the lowest in Jan since 2011. The night temperature broke several records.
It was the fourth lowest temperature in the history of Bhopal in Jan. Wednesday’s temperature was also the second lowest of this season after 3.3 degrees recorded on Dec 16. Bhopal remained the third coldest place in state.
The blowing of dry northerly cold winds in the absence of a system was identified as the reason behind the extreme cold weather.
The temperature in Pachmarhi was zero degrees. Similar cold weather would continue for the next two days, while respite could be witnessed after that due to a western disturbance. A warning of a cold wave was issued for many places in the state.
The day temperature in Bhopal was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees less than the normal mark, while the night temperature in the city was 3.6 degrees Celsius, seven degrees less than the normal mark.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Thursday, the meteorological dept stated there would be a clear sky and haze during the morning hours.
Day and night temperatures will be 22 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius, respectively.
