Left 4 Dead 2. Resident Evil 2 Remake. Dying Light 2. Dead Island 2. Your choices for blasting your way through hordes of zombies are many. But I’ve been eagerly awaiting news on Killing Floor 3, the third entry in the Tripwire Interactive series. Playing the first game was a real revelation for me – its weapons feel so good to fire, from the animation to the sound design, that it makes popping zeds especially satisfying. The second game expanded and evolved that basic formula, and now we’re set for another installment with confirmation of a launch date and the ability to sign up for a February beta.
Killing Floor 3 is set an impressive 70 years on from the events of its predecessor, and Tripwire is building on its pair of magnificent zombie games with all the essentials. The support for up to six-player co-op returns, and the more futuristic setting means both your arsenal and the threats you’ll go up against have been evolved and honed in all manner of ways. You’ll of course be able to modify your weapon loadouts with a wide range of mods, gadgets, and skill to suit your play style – and you’ll need to if you want to survive.
The Killing Floor 3 release date has been loosely expected around March, so it was only a matter of time before we got full confirmation of the exact date for the new FPS game. Now we have it – you’ll be able to play from Tuesday March 25. If you feel like you can’t wait until then, however, there’s even better news.
