Where is the Oblivion Remastered Skeleton Key? Lockpicking in Oblivion is a polarizing subject, with some enjoying the fiddly picking and some hating the seemingly obtuse minigame. With the Skeleton Key, you’ll never have to worry about breaking another lockpick again and can get straight into other people’s chests without any effort.
If you’re getting tired of Oblivion lockpicking but still want to impress the Thieves Guild, the Oblivion Remastered Skeleton Key is an essential item. There is a multi-stage quest to complete before you get your hands on the Skeleton Key, but it’s well worth your time in the RPG remake.
How to get the Oblivion Skeleton Key
To begin the quest for the Skeleton Key, you must be at least level 10. If you’re below this threshold, you’ll be turned away at the first stage. We have a guide on how to level up fast if you’re struggling.
The first step to finding the Skeleton Key is to find the Nocturnal Shrine, which is located to the northeast of Leyawiin – you can follow the eastern road from the town, which will lead you straight to the shrine.
Once there, provided you’re level 10 or above, you can approach the large statue and interact with it, whereby you’ll receive a quest to find the Eye of Nocturnal.
The first step to finding the Eye of Nocturnal is to find Weebam-Na’s house in Leyawiin, where you’ll find two Argonians. If you can stealth while staying within earshot of the pair, they’ll talk about the location of the Eye of Nocturnal – something they will deny knowledge of if asked directly.
The Eye of Nocturnal is located in Tidewater Cave, on the southern edge of the map, below Leyawiin. Enter the dungeon and take three left turns until you get to a flooded dead end. Dip your head under the water and you’ll see a chest, collect the Eye of Nocturnal from here, and exit Tidewater Cave.
Fast travel back to the Nocturnal Shrine, hand the Eye of Nocturnal to the statue, and you’ll be awarded the Skeleton Key!
With the Oblivion Skeleton Key in your inventory, there quite literally isn’t a lock in the land that can withstand a few flicks of your wrist, so get out there and make a ton of Oblivion gold fast.
