In 2024, the survival game was king. Enshrouded. Once Human. Abiotic Factor. Palworld. These are just some of the experiences that dominated PCs last year, with many of them still well into their ongoing early-access journeys. One such game is Soulmask, and after almost a year on Steam, we finally know what to expect leading into, and beyond, the imminent 1.0 launch.
Soulmask might look like your typical survival game at a glance, but it has one big, new idea that sets it apart. As you build up your tribe and create a safe haven for them, you can take control of an NPC. If you like one of their skills, think their stats are more suited to an upcoming task, or find their personality more in line with your own, you can sync up your consciousness and get in the driver’s seat.
The game is still growing, of course, but an all-new roadmap details everything we can expect from Soulmask in 2025, including the upcoming 1.0 launch. Starting in the second quarter of 2025, developer Campfire Studio is introducing an automated clan system. This means you can set up construction and logistics to run without major input, which will make managing your tribe’s growth and upkeep a lot easier.
Around the same time, Campfire Studio is also releasing free DLC ‘The Mysteries of the Ancient Oriental.’ As an unknown power from beneath the sea calls on the land’s Chieftains, it’s up to you to venture forth and discover a long-forgotten force buried between sand and seawater.
Beyond that, you can expect Soulmask 1.0 sometime in the third quarter of 2025. Campfire Studio has a lot planned for launch, including a clan system upgrade, tribesman improvements, a gesture overhaul, appearance replication, and more. The team says it’ll release additional developer insights as the year goes on, as 1.0 is going to be a huge moment for the game.
Even later in the year will be version 1.x, and that’ll come with extra architectural styles for building, and more besides. There’ll be plenty of updates throughout 2025, so stay tuned.
