V Rising somehow manages to blend survival game mechanics with Diablo-style combat and make it work – all with a unique vampiric twist. We don’t get nearly enough vampire games anymore, and if you love the pointed teeth of the creatures in the dark, this experience is a must-play. Right now, it’s available at the lowest price it’s ever been since the 1.0 update.

I’ve been diving back into V Rising regularly since its early access launch back in 2022, and after finally getting the full version in May 2024, it quickly cemented itself as one of the best survival games I’ve ever played. Whether you’re building a castle that would put Dracula to shame or surviving amidst the dangerous monsters that roam the land, V Rising offers a memorable experience.

Those who have played Diablo will already be familiar with its RPG mechanics, which include isometric combat and using different keys for abilities, creating a satisfying gameplay loop that will keep you hooked in the process. As you awake from your slumber, weak and hunted, you’ll need to face both humans and supernatural foes alike, as you attempt to reclaim your power and rival the ultimate vampire, Dracula.

V Rising’s tantalizingly dark world looks absolutely gorgeous with a great visual style and some intriguing biomes like the Cursed Forest or the Hallowed Mountains. Between collecting new abilities and growing your vampire strength, you’ll be filling your gothic castle home with cobwebs, coffins, and any other spooky decor you may fancy. Even if you’re not into your survival games, but want a great vampire action game, you can ramp up the experience and resource gains to make it easier (or make it more challenging, if you prefer).

Now would be a perfect time to jump in, too. Following 1.0’s release in 2024, the Invaders of Oakveil update is approaching on Monday, April 28. That means you’ll be able to experience the fight against Megara the Serpent Queen, as well as four different V Blood bosses in a new region of the map.

If you’re looking for a bite to remember, you can now get V Rising for just $18.54 / £15.63 from Fanatical. That’s the lowest price the game has been since its full launch, or you can opt for the more expensive edition for just $65.06 / £53.15 right now, offering plenty of DLC, including the brilliant Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack.

Once you don your cloak and throw away all of the garlic in your home, you may want to check the best V Rising base locations for your castle. Alternatively, grab some friends and set up a V Rising server for a co-op experience – or a PvP experience, if you’re looking to be more competitive.
