‘This is what makes the FA Cup so great’published at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February
HT: Birmingham 2-2 Newcastle
Birmingham City
Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner speaking on BBC One: “I am surprised I have a voice left to speak to you. I think the best part of this is – it’s what makes the FA Cup so great – you just don’t know what is going to happen and it’s why we play the game.
“I think the number one thing we saw, when we got here the mood was very dour but I have absolutely fallen in love with the rosy atmosphere we now have and I think it is something that is going to last forever.”
On Tom Brady: “He has absolutely been in touch. I have a load of messages from him. He calls all the time. He is very engaged with Chris Davies and the team and spends a lot of time talking about performance, rehabilitation and mental attitude. All the things that he brought to his long and successful career he brings here.”
On the second half: “I want to see more scoring. We’ve played really well. More of the same atmosphere. More of the same energy. It’s great to see the away fans here. They hate us and we hate them for today but that’s what makes it so great.”
