I can’t quite believe it. Not only is the fabled Oblivion Remastered real, it’s here. After years of rumors, leaks, insiders, and internet scuttlebutt, we’re returning to Cyrodiil. The worst-kept secret in videogames has arrived, and it’s exactly as gorgeous, gripping, and entertaining as it was almost 20 years ago. So dim the lights, get comfortable, and clear your schedule because it’s time to take on the Mythic Dawn all over again.
The Oblivion Remastered release date is upon us. Bethesda has finally fully unveiled its complete rebuild of the fantasy RPG that put it on the map, and it looks truly glorious. The sweeping vistas of Cyrodiil, the grand architecture of The Imperial City, and the flaming gates of hell are all intact. Oblivion Remastered has it all, and you can play it now.
Whether you’re a Skyrim veteran, a long-time ESO player, or patiently awaiting The Elder Scrolls 6 release date, Oblivion Remastered is for you. The game plays just as it did back in 2006, but Bethesda and Virtuos have given it quite the facelift. We already saw what the game looked like last week, but nothing beats seeing it live.
As well as the full graphical overhaul for the base game, Oblivion Remastered includes the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, plus additional downloadable content that was released for the original game.
You won’t just be playing Oblivion Remastered in 2025, however. The highly anticipated Skyblivion, a mod where all of Oblivion is being remade inside of Skyrim, is also due out sometime this year. It looks equally as impressive as Bethesda and Virtuos’ creation, and will be completely free if you own Skyrim. Best of all, the project’s lead has assured us that Oblivion Remastered “changes nothing” for Skyblivion – so it isn’t going anywhere.
Bethesda has confirmed that Oblivion Remastered is out now, and available on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, PS5, and Steam.
