If you’ve scoured Skyrim, sapped dry Starfield, and you’re tired of waiting on The Elder Scrolls 6, it looks like the beloved Bethesda classic is finally coming back. Long-rumored, The Elder Scrolls Oblivion remaster has seemingly just been confirmed courtesy of a sizable leak. Dozens of screenshots comparing the ostensible new game to the 2006 RPG have spilled online, with an official announcement likely to follow in the near future.
The Elder Scrolls 6 release date is still a long way in the distance and Skyrim is almost a full 14 years old. But one of the best RPGs that Bethesda has ever made is finally, seemingly, getting a total makeover. Images of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion remaster have been leaked from the website for Virtuos, the development studio that has previously worked on Sea of Thieves, New World Aeternum, Age of Mythology, and Stellar Blade. The screenshots show several key Oblivion locations, both in their original, 2006 form and as they will appear in the remaster. Oblivion remake
The earliest rumors about an Oblivion remaster began back in 2020, and gossip about the game has escalated during the last few months. Various leakers and commenters have suggested that the Oblivion remaster will be shadow dropped this month, potentially in the next week.
An unofficial remake of Oblivion is also in the works. Skyblivion is created by fans and rebuilds the 19-year-old RPG using the Skyrim engine. That game is scheduled to be released in 2025. Given that these images have leaked, it is possible that the official Oblivion remaster will soon be announced and confirmed by Bethesda.
