Dasun Shanaka, the former captain of Sri Lanka, will be investigated by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after it was revealed that on February 2, he left a first-class match before it was finished in order to play for the Dubai Capitals, an International League T20 team in the United Arab Emirates.
Shanaka’s club, Sinhalese Sports Club, was also carrying out its own investigation, according to SLC CEO Ashley de Silva, who spoke to espncricinfo.com. The match referee was led to believe that Shanaka had sustained a concussion during the match against Moor Sports Club.
Shanaka was requested to play for SSC despite the International League T20 event going on because the team was fighting to avoid relegation. Shanaka left before the end of the third day after scoring 123 off 87 balls on Days 2 and 3. When Moor Sports Club was batting, he did not show up to bowl, but a few hours later that same day, he scored 34 runs off of just 12 balls for the Dubai Capitals.

Shanaka played three games for the IL20 squad after abandoning the SSC game, and the Dubai Capitals were ultimately named champions. Shanaka represented Sri Lanka in 102 Twenty20 Internationals, 71 One-Day Internationals, and six Test matches.
