Having dropped out of absolute nowhere, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is one of 2025’s biggest – and best – surprises so far. Its latest update, 1.0.7.0 makes things even better, though, adding new game plus as well as a detailed photo mode. Update 1.0.7.0, released on Wednesday February 12, adds a huge new game plus mode to Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, allowing you to replay the action-adventure game on any difficulty level you’ve already completed with all of the weapons and Ninpo you’ve unlocked in your previous playthrough. To avoid making things too easy, your weapons and Ninpo return to level one, but that won’t stop you from unleashing a serious bloodbath with your top-notch arsenal.
If you’ve already completed Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, it’s worth jumping in again with new game plus mode. If you’ve not picked it up yet, you’re missing out. Ninja Gaiden Black 2 is a remaster of Team Ninja’s iconic adventure of the same name, and follows ninja Ryu Hayabusa as he battles across the world with his legendary Dragon Sword. The remaster is as fast-paced as the original, but also boasts improved graphics (with an emphasis on realistic dismemberments) and additional features and characters from spin-off games.
In her Ninja Gaiden 2 Black impressions piece, Nat describes the remaster as “Stellar Blade on testosterone,” praising its simple hack n’ slash combat, varied arsenal, and outright gore. If you like hacking limbs off enemies and bathing in their blood, this is a game for you.
Alongside the addition of new game plus mode, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black’s latest update adds a photo mode and the ability to hide your projectile weapon. Finally, you can take beautiful, blood-soaked photos without a big ol’ cannon or bow strapped to your back.
The update is out now, so sharpen your katana – there are limbs that need to be liberated from their bodies.
