What is the best KCD2 armor? The first half of the game will have you wearing a hodgepodge of rusty armor pieces, while the latter half will have you collecting named pieces that do not make a full set. Don’t worry, we’re going to take a closer look to work out what the best gear is.
In addition to a set of armor, you’re also going to need the best KCD2 swords to contend with bandits, killer wildlife, and soldiers on the battlefield. Don’t forget you can get around a lot faster by unlocking the best KCD2 horse straight out of the gate. For now, though, here’s what you need to know about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 armor, including helmets, gauntlets, plate armor, and more.
Best Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 armor
Here is the best KCD2 armor for the highest defensive stats:
- Helmet: Noble’s Bascinet
- Coif: Mail Collar with a Coat of Arms
- Hood: Brocade Hood
- Collar: Mail Collar with a Badge
- Plate: Milanese Cuirass
- Coat: Riding Waffenrock
- Tunic: Short Pourpoint
- Chainmail: Hauberk Long
- Gloves: Nuremberg Gauntlets
- Sleeves: Nuremberg Plate Gauntlets
- Hose: Padded Chausses
- Cuisses and shoes: Noble Plate Leggings
Unlike the first game, there aren’t many defined sets to completely outfit yourself in. Instead, you’ll collect a hodgepodge of different armor pieces, as many sets only consist of two or three pieces.
While you can find rare armor on the corpses of bandits and other warriors you defeat, you’ll find all of these items in Kuttenberg, the second KCD2 map. The best way to afford them is to loot the enemies you defeat and then trade said items in while purchasing expensive equipment that can reach over 6,000 Groschen. Do note that some items, such as the Noble Cuirass, offer higher Charisma, and brigantines are much better for stealth than plate armors.

Best early Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 armor
When you begin your journey, we recommend walking to Tachov – north of Troskowitz – to the blacksmith for the best early-game armor you can afford. On your way there, you may run into bandits along the road with decent armor equipped. You likely won’t be able to take them on, but you can lure them to a nearby village and the guards will help you kill them. This is the quickest way to outfit yourself with strong armor right away.
You can craft pieces to sell to the blacksmith or earn KCD2 gold in other ways to purchase your first set of armor. The blacksmith sells an Italian Hauberk for 180 Groschen or a Smooth Cuirass for 440 Groschen, along with head, arm, and leg armor.
Once you gain access to Trosky Castle after the Wedding Crashers main quest, you’ll be able to trade with the ornery Blacksmith Osinia. He doesn’t sell a better cuirass, but he does sell Plate Knight Gauntlets and Milanese Plate Leg armor.
If you’d rather not grind things out, follow The Jaunt side quest obtained from Blacksmith Radovan which will take you to Semine. As you help out Lord Semine and Captain Gnarly there, you’ll come across bandits and have their help defeating them, and the pair will also give you a decent shield. At the end of the quest, Radovan will reward you with a Rusty Sheet Cuirass.
Otherwise, if you see the Mutt quest through to completion, you’ll discover a wolf den with a Patched Cuirass inside along with a Broadsword. Both of these items will carry you through the first couple of main story KCD2 quests until you can discover better armor.
With the best armor equipped, hardly anyone can take Henry on in a duel.
