Disco Elysium has earned itself a wealth of plaudits, and with good reason. The narrative-led adventure RPG remains a profound achievement in the way it crafts an interweaving network of stats, decisions, and dialogue choices that come together to put your own unique spin on its detective tale. As numerous spiritual sequels shape up for release at other studios, many involving developers who worked on the original game, the new-look ZA/UM reveals that it’s bringing Disco Elysium back in a brand-new, surprising form.
Following its announcement of a new spy game, ZA/UM reveals that it has reimagined Disco Elysium for mobile devices. It says the new version of the RPG, which will launch first on Android devices, has been adapted “to completely cater to the habits of today’s mobile users.”
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the studio has adapted a game filled with long, complex dialogue options to optimize it for short play sessions. That said, Disco Elysium is a game where a large percentage of your time is spent reading, so I could see it working on a long train ride or flight.

Speaking about the new version, ZA/UM studio head Denis Havel says, “We intend to captivate the TikTok user with quick hits of compelling story, art, and audio, ultimately creating an all new, deeply engaging form of entertainment.
“Mobile players deserve deep, story-rich experiences like Disco Elysium,” Havel explains. “With profound respect for the original’s artistry and meaning, we move forward as both custodians and creators, bringing this masterpiece to new and returning players alike. We want you to fall in love with Disco Elysium on your phone – all over again.”
“With this adaptation, Disco Elysium becomes more accessible than ever,” narrative lead Chris Priestman adds. He says the reimagination, which features new, 360-degree scenes set to immerse you in the heart of Revachol and new audio featuring full voiceover, “is structured to fit the way people play on mobile, making it effortless to enjoy in short bursts. It’s what audiobooks wish they were.”
The Disco Elysium mobile edition will arrive in the summer, with the first two chapters available to play for free. Continuing past this point will require a single purchase, which ZA/UM promises will result in “uninterrupted, ad-free gameplay that stays true to the game’s narrative brilliance.”
