How do you unlock all the Atomfall endings? Rebellion’s survival RPG boasts six endings, and the conditions to meet them often depend on your interactions with specific NPCs and the decisions you make when fulfilling their requests. To keep it simple, we’ve put together step-by-step instructions so you can unlock every ending in this sci-fi caper. Needless to say, there are spoilers below.
The best ending in Atomfall depends on which factions and characters you prefer. There is no specific ‘good’ or ‘bad’ ending, but helping one faction requires you to turn against another. Since you can collect everything you need for all Atomfall endings before the point of no return, we recommend following all the Atomfall leads, then manually saving once you reach the Oberon Dig Site. From here, you can reload your save and unlock every ending in the sandbox game with one playthrough.
Here are all the Atomfall endings:
- Oberon
- Dr Garrow
- Dr Holder
- Joyce Tanner
- Captain Sims
- Mother Jago
Oberon
The Oberon lead is the first one you receive from the voice on the telephone, and arguably the biggest mystery to untangle. There is no key item to collect for this ending, making it the most straightforward one to unlock.
Power up the Interchange, head to the Oberon Dig Site, and activate the four failsafe explosives in the area. They’re easy to spot – just look for the large green structures labelled “DANGER EXPLOSIVES” dotted around the perimeter.
Once all four explosives are armed, return to the Control Room and pull the Self Destruct Console lever next to the computer monitors on the left-hand side. Head back to the Interchange and answer the telephone next to the Pneumatic Tube to receive your next instruction.
Leave the Interchange via the Slatten Dale entrance and return to the Desolate Bunker you awoke in right at the beginning of the survival game to unlock this ending.
Dr Garrow
Requires: Sample Grinder
You can only begin to pursue this ending after you free Dr. Garrow from Skethermoor Prison. She’s in the restricted access area right at the back of the prison, so make sure you’re well-prepared to fight or sneak your way past the human and robot guards that patrol it.
After you retrieve the signal redirector and unlock her cell, Dr. Garrow escapes through the adjoining door to the Interchange. She also locks it behind her, forcing you to backtrack through the prison and access the Interchange via the Skethermoor entrance on the opposite side of the Protocol camp. Once inside, head to the Central Processor and speak to Dr. Garrow. Accept her request to retrieve her research notes.
Proceed into the central underground area of the Interchange and follow the signs to Robotics. Use the signal redirector to bypass the electronic locks at the main entrance and the entrance to the lower level once you’re inside. Continue to the lower level and activate Consoles A, B, and C to open the Weapons Testing area. Pick up the Head Office keycard beside the body on the floor, then use it on the card reader up the short flight of stairs to the right of Console B. Pick up the research notes on the desk from within, then return to Dr. Garrow.
Hand over the research notes and receive her follow-up instructions. Head to Casterfell Dam Data Store, which you can find in the sinkhole south of the dam. Use the signal redirector on the various fuseboxes dotted around the room to enter the Control Room, then insert the Dam Data Store key card in the card reader. You can then run the ‘GEN ERA’ command at the Data Interface Console.
Once again, return to Dr. Garrow and head to the Oberon Dig Site to retrieve a sample. Use two atomic batteries to restore power to the extraction drill battery terminals in the Generator Room, then pull the Sample Extractor Control lever in the Control Room. Retrieve the Sample Grinder canister from the platform beside the dig site. Return to the Head Office in the lower level of Robotics and speak to Dr. Garrow for a final time to unlock this ending.
Be aware that following Joyce Tanner’s instructions to run ‘GEN STOP’ instead of ‘GEN ERA’ locks you out of this ending, as does telling Dr. Holder of Dr. Garrow’s whereabouts. If you’ve followed all these leads simultaneously up to this point, save your progress before these two major decisions to reload for a different ending.
Dr. Holder
Requires: Poisoned Sample One
This Atomfall ending comes the closest to an objectively ‘good’ ending, since it offers the only way to destroy Oberon for good. To unlock this ending, you must first gain access to the Forgotten Cellar under St. Katherine’s Church. Enter the Interchange via Wyndham Village, then retrieve the Church Cellar Key from Medical.
Once inside the Forgotten Cellar, speak to Dr. Holder to receive Holder’s keycard. Return to Medical and use the keycard on the card reader to proceed to the Auditorium and retrieve Sample One. You can find it on the gurney beside the contaminated body in the centre of the room.
Return to Dr. Holder and hand over Sample One. At this point, he tells you he cannot leave until he speaks to Dr. Garrow. Free her from Skethermoor Prison, then report her whereabouts to Holder. This dialogue option locks you out of the Dr. Garrow ending, so we recommend saving before you select this option if you want to see every ending.
Head back into the Interchange and speak to Dr. Holder in the Central Processor to receive Poisoned Sample One. Restore power to the Central Processor, and proceed to the Oberon Dig Site.
Insert Poisoned Sample One into the Fire Safety Fluid Input on the metal walkway to the left of the Control Room. Head down to the dig site itself and open the yellow fluid release valves on either side of the dig site to arm the foam cannons. Return to the Control Room and flip the Fire Safety system lever to the left of the viewing window.
Finally, proceed back through the Interchange to the Medical Tunnels and meet Dr. Holder at the exit to the left of the crashed cargo train to unlock this ending.
Joyce Tanner ending
Requires: Sample Grinder
While you might stumble upon Joyce in the Remote Bunker in Casterfell Woods early on in your playthrough, tracking her down at this location is not a prerequisite to unlock this ending. Instead, you can find her in Data Store Charlie after you power it up with an atomic battery, accessible via the Slatten Dale entrance to the Interchange.
Speak to Joyce and accept her request to activate the radio towers in Slatten Dale, Casterfell Woods, and Skethermoor. You can find the locations of each radio tower on the Atomfall map, though each one requires a key card to activate.
The Slatten Dale radio tower key card is on the body in the small cave in the Outlaw Camp, accessible from the scaffolding in the waterlogged quarry. The Casterfell Woods radio tower key card is in the contaminated room within Bunker L7, accessible via the small gap in the room to the left of the entrance. Finally, the Skethermoor radio tower key card is in a secret room in the Vehicle Storage Bunker, accessible via the small window in the wall to the right of the body against the workbench.
Once you have all three radio key cards, activate each tower and return to Joyce. Like Dr. Garrow, she requires an Oberon sample before she can help you escape. Head into the Oberon Dig Site and insert two atomic batteries into the extraction drill battery terminals on either side of the sample extractor, located in the Generator Room opposite the Control Room.
Flip the lever for the Sample Extractor Control to the right of the Control Room’s viewing window, then head down into the dig site to retrieve the Sample Grinder canister. Arm the four failsafe explosives while you’re down here, just as you would in the Oberon ending, then return to the Control Room and pull the self-destruct console lever.
Return to Data Store Charlie and listen to the “Extraction on the Way” audio log on the desk. Leave the Interchange through the Casterfell Woods entrance and proceed towards the Remote Bunker to meet Joyce Tanner at the helicopter waiting near her bunker to unlock this ending.
Finally, be aware that it is possible to accidentally lock yourself out of a particular ending when pursuing Joyce Tanner’s lead. Once you restore power to Casterfell Dam Data Store, Joyce requests that you run the ‘GEN MOVE’ command on the data interface console, which will cut Dr. Garrow’s ending short. To avoid a negative outcome, save your progress before restoring power to experience both endings.
Captain Sims
Requires: Protocol Radio Part
You can only begin to pursue this ending after you speak to Captain Sims at the Village Hall in Wyndham Village. Report the murder of Maisie Higgins at St. Katherine’s Church to earn his trust.
Speak to him again to receive the order to head to Skethermoor Prison and meet Dr. Garrow. Sims grants you free access to the prison at large, so take the opportunity to pick up the Atomfall signal redirector while you’re here. You can also free Dr. Garrow while you’re here to access her ending.
Return to Sims at the Village Hall and lie to him about your involvement when he confronts you about Dr. Garrow’s escape. He has another order for you, so head back out to retrieve the Protocol Radio Part in the altar room behind the wicker man in the main sanctum of the Speaking Cave in Casterfell Woods.
Hand in the radio, then receive your orders to head to the Oberon Dig Site. Arm the four failsafe explosives as you would in the Oberon ending, then pull the Self Destruct Console lever in the Control Room. Make your escape through the Interchange and leave via the Skethermoor entrance to meet Captain Sims at the helicopter waiting near the prison to unlock this ending.
Mother Jago ending
Requires: Growth Stimulant
This Atomfall ending aligns you with Mother Jago and the druids in their attempts to awaken the Voice in the Soil. While you’re likely to stumble upon Mother Jago at the Old Mine in Casterfell Woods early on, this initial meeting is not actually essential, nor is fulfilling her request to retrieve her book from the druids’ castle.
Instead, power up the Interchange until you can access the underground area that leads to the Medical Tunnels via Data Store A in Wyndham Village or Data Store C in Slatten Dale. This area is afflicted with infection, and the time it takes just to squeeze through the gap to enter it can kill you at low health. To mitigate these effects, stock up on Atomfall crafting supplies for damage reduction, and invest training stimulants into Atomfall skills that increase your health.
The Medical Tunnels are populated with thralls and even triffids, so use your best Atomfall weapons to fend them off as you proceed up the cave passage on the left. Climb the stone ledge and retrieve the Growth Stimulant on the ground to the left of Dr. Langley’s body.
Return to Mother Jago at the Old Mine and hand over the Growth Stimulant in exchange for the Speaking Cave Offering. Head to the wicker man in the Speaking Cave to place the offering on the altar. After you commune with the Voice in the Soil, meet with Mother Jago outside the Speaking Cave to receive the Growth Stimulant and your final instructions.
Insert the Growth Stimulant into the Fire Safety Fluid Input on the metal walkway to the left of the Control Room. Head down to the dig site itself and open the yellow fluid release valves on either side of the dig site to arm the foam cannons. Return to the Control Room and flip the Fire Safety system lever to the left of the viewing window.
This ending triggers Protocol to assault the dig site the second you flip this lever, so be prepared to battle through B.A.R.D. robots and armored foes with heavy firepower on your way back to the Interchange. Follow the Voice in the Soil to the pit within the Druids’ Castle in Casterfell Woods and speak to Mother Jago for a final time to unlock this ending.
Now that you know how to unlock all the Atomfall endings, choose whichever one you prefer or do a quick reload to experience them all.
