Asus has just been caught raising the prices of its Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 and AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT cards even further, despite already listing the cards at well above the MSRP set by both companies. The prices in question are those on its official US store, but the impact is also being felt overseas.

With both of these new GPUs being among the best graphics cards you can buy, it’s no great surprise to see availability issues continue. Another major frustration is the constant price rises that are pushing the cards well above the AMD and Nvidia recommended MSRPs, meaning if you want to buy an RTX 5090 or RX 9070 XT, you’ll be paying far more than you would have at launch.

In the original report from Videocardz, it is pointed out that Asus raised its prices over the weekend, with the ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC being raised by $280 to $3,359.99. The card started out life at $2,800, still well above the $1,999 MSRP set by Nvidia, when the RTX 5090 was first released back in January.

Asus also raised the price of its TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 OC, which is up to $2,999.99, while the non-OC model is up to $2,759.99. As for its AMD cards, the RX 9070 XT now costs $719.99 for the Prime Gaming model, and $799.99 for the TUF Gaming model, with both cards being overclocked out of the box. This price rise is also being seen in the UK, with TUF Gaming RTX 5090 now costing £2,499.99 at Overclockers.

Reports have suggested that the $599 MSRP for the RX 9070 XT was only intended as a launch price, but AMD has since refuted this, and stated it is encouraging the sale of cards at the MSRP, although it has no power to enforce this.

Despite the price rises, which are still live on the Asus online store, no stock has been made available for any of these cards, which continue to be elusive for prospective buyers. Instead, these prices now act as a warning for what will need to be paid should stock appear any time soon.
