J&K Bandipora Encounter: The security forces Friday are engaged in a gunfight with militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district after launching a joint search operation for militants operating out of the region following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
According to the officials, two security forces personnel were injured during the gunfight. A search operation in Bandipora district’s Kulnar Bazipora area was conducted after intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area, Chinar Corps said on X.
This is the third encounter in the last three days. On Wednesday, two militants were killed in a gunfight after the army foiled an infiltration attempt in Uri sector in north Kashmir. On Thursday, a jawan was killed in an encounter between security forces and a group of militants near Basantgarh in J&K’s Udhampur district.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants, who were hiding, opened fire on the security forces’ positions.
At least 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed and several were injured when terrorists opened fire at a meadow near Pahalgam town in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday afternoon.
