Sometimes you want to customize a whole family lineage, from grandparents to grandchildren, telling a rags to riches story across generations. The Sims 4 will provide that for you in spades. But sometimes, you want something smaller, just a single person, making the lives of their neighbors better. Enter MySims, the franchise’s answer to Animal Crossing, which originally released way back in 2007 for the Nintendo Wii. If you ever wanted The Sims to have a cozier, cutesier vibe, look no further.
Though The Sims has had an exaggerated cartoon look and a wicked sense of humor, the franchise has always had a simulation element, thanks to its roots in games like SimCity. It’s easy to find players who are enthusiastic for just one element of the game, like designing clothes or building houses. MySims simplifies and purifies those systems, while maintaining their spark. In both games, you take control of one sim in charge of rebuilding a rundown community, whether an underdeveloped town or a forsaken kingdom.
In MySims, you will befriend the other Sims in town by rebuilding and remodeling their homes, thereby earning new furniture and materials. You can fully customize your little Sim and their residence. Like Animal Crossing, you can befriend or antagonize the town’s inhabitants, shaping who stays or leaves. You can also explore the islands and forests outside the town, fishing and gathering materials to bring back home. In total, MySims mimics the best life games, a cute and intimate look at small town living.

And now, both games have been re-released for PC. You can purchase both MySims and MySims Kingdom in a bundle for $39.99 on Steam. For now, you cannot buy either game separately.
