Recently, we received new information regarding details of the battery pack of the upcoming Harrier EV. According to sources, the Harrier EV will likely come with two battery pack options – 60 kWh & 75 kWh. The leaks also suggest that the smaller battery pack will offer a range of more than 500 km while the larger battery pack should offer a range of more than 600 km!

But why should Mahindra worry? Well, Harrier EV, once launched will ideally compete with Mahindra’s latest SUV – XEV 9e. And interestingly, the Mahindra EV also gets similar capacity battery packs – 59 kWh & 79 kWh. Among these, the larger battery pack is paired with electric motors producing 282 bhp. Now we have no information regarding the power output for Harrier EV but earlier at the debut of Acti.ev, Tata Motors revealed the architecture is capable of handling power output up to 226 bhp. That said, the battery tech has evolved since then & so we expect Acti.ev to handle more power than the previous claims.

What Else?

The Harrier EV concept was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo & later at 2024 Bharat Mobility Show! Now after two years, we highly expect the SUV to be showcased in the production avatar. We expect Tata Motors to reveal all the details, including prices. Talking of the Harrier EV, recent spy shots have also emerged the possibility of fully independent suspensions – unlike the Semi-independent setup on the diesel model. And yes, the SUV will be offered with dual motor setup, enabling AWD capabilities.

Rest, expect the EV model to be very similar to the diesel model. The only changes on the exterior we expect are different or rather closed front grille and new alloy wheel design. While on the inside we could see new interior colour themes. Feature-wise will also remain unchanged but could get some EV specific features like V2V & V2L charging. Also, it might come with advanced terrain mode selector as the design was previously patented by the brand.
