The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has issued a final warning to actor Shine Tom Chacko against his alleged drug use and misconduct at work place.
The actor met representatives of the trade body here on Tuesday in connection with the allegations of drug abuse and misconduct raised against him by co-star Vincy Aloshious on the set of Soothravakyam.
B. Unnikrishnan, general secretary, FEFKA, said Mr. Chacko admitted to have used drugs. “We have informed his family members that he required professional assistance to overcome the problem of drug use. We will not cooperate with him if he violates the assurance not to create any more problems,” he said.
Mr. Unnikrishnan said Ms. Aloshious had shared her complaint against Mr. Chacko with him and had clearly asked him not to divulge the identity of her co-star and the name of the movie. “We had told her to lodge the complaint with the Internal Committee of the movie,” he said.
The federation representatives said that they were not against the surprise checks proposed by the police and Excise personnel on film locations to check allegations of drug use. The trade body has formed surveillance units on all locations to keep a tab on such violations. “We will also meet people in the industry facing complaints of professional misconduct and ask them to initiate a course correction as such incidents are tarnishing the repute of the Malayalam film industry,” they said.
