Dead by Daylight thrives on its variety. From classic horror icons to internal, homebrewed heroes, every nightmare becomes a reality in Behaviour’s asymmetric multiplayer game. But we’re often too focused on the big names: Five Nights at Freddy’s, Saw, Alien. Now, as part of the Steady Pulse update, developer Behaviour Interactive is announcing a much more low-key character, but they could end up being one of the best, and there’s a huge update to The Archives, too.

A new Dead by Daylight survivor is coming to the Fog, and her name is Orela Rose. An EMT caught in The Entity’s grasp, she’s the perfect support survivor to help your team focus on generators and get out alive. Behaviour teases that Rose’s perks allow her to heal faster as the stakes get higher, take hits to keep her teammates safe, and risk her own life to provide the rest of the survivors with invaluable information.

Rose is the multiplayer game’s ultimate team player, as she stands between her entire group and certain death, so if you’re an altruistic DBD player you’re going to find a lot to love about this new survivor. I’m all about healing, whether that’s in Marvel Rivals or Battlefield, so here’s hoping Rose goes right to the top of my pick list.

DBD’s upcoming Steady Pulse update isn’t the only thing you should be excited about, though. It’s being accompanied by some major changes to The Archives, with Behaviour finally streamlining the challenge and lore hub. The Archives will soon be known as The Rift, while all of the challenges will now be called Quests.

You will no longer have to select a quest before heading into a Trial, as all of them are active at the same time. You’ll have daily, weekly, milestone, and event missions to complete, which combine to make it faster and easier to earn rewards in The Rift. If you want to track a specific quest all you need to do is pin it, which will help you follow your progress on the pause menu.

Behaviour Interactive is releasing Dead by Daylight Steady Pulse on Tuesday May 6, but it’s available on the Steam PTB right now.
