Pushpa 2 The Rule worldwide box office collection Day 20: Director Sukumar’s blockbuster Telugu-language film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has been on a record-breaking spree since its release last month. Even with fresh competition in the face of Baby John and Mufasa: The Lion King, the film remains unshakable at the box office. Interest in Pushpa has remained consistent across its three-week run, also because of a tragic death that took place at a premiere screening in Hyderabad, and the charges that were brought upon star Allu Arjun in the subsequent days.
On its 20th day of release, Pushpa 2 made Rs 14.2 crore across India, which actually marks an increase over Monday’s Rs 13 crore collections. As per usual, most of the film’s revenue came from the Hindi-language version, and not the film’s original Telugu version. Pushpa 2 made Rs 11.5 crore from the Hindi version on day 20, which pushed its lifetime nett collections past the Rs 700 crore mark. It’s the highest-earning Hindi film of all time, having overtaken the likes of Jawan, Pathaan and Stree 2. It’s now also the first film to pass the Rs 700 crore nett mark in the Hindi language. It has also made nearly Rs 1100 crore in India alone.
Globally, Pushpa 2 has now passed the Rs 1600 crore mark. It’s the third-biggest Indian film of all time, behind SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which made over Rs 1700 crore worldwide, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal, which remains the only Indian film to have made more than Rs 2000 crore globally. Most of its earnings, however, came from China.
Pushpa 2 is a sequel to Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise, which was released in 2021. The film made more than Rs 350 crore, during the pandemic. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, both films earned mostly positive reviews. The film’s success has been marred by the controversy surrounding a woman’s death during a special screening in Hyderabad, which was attended by Allu Arjun. He spent a night in jail after being arrested by the police last week, and has since expressed his grief and innocence. He was brought in for questioning once again on Monday.
