Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has invited bids for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 1.2 GW at the Khavda solar park in Gujarat.

Bids must be submitted by March 20, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹1 million (~$11,488) and a security deposit of 10% of the contract value.

Selected bidders must design, engineer, construct, erect, test, install, and commission the solar projects. They must provide operations and maintenance services for three years.

They must also set up an evacuation system up to the project’s terminal point.

The scope of work will also involve terminating the 33 kV evacuation feeder at the 33 kV main pooling switchgear.

Bidders must have designed, supplied, erected or supervised erection, and commissioned or supervised the commissioning of a balance of system of grid-connected solar projects with a minimum cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW.  At least one of these projects must have a minimum capacity of 10 MW.

The project must have been operating for at least six months.

Bidders must adhere to the following annual average turnover requirements:

  • ₹1 billion (~$11.4 million) for a single block with a capacity of 300 MW
  • ₹2 billion (~$22.9 million) for two blocks or a capacity of 600 MW
  • ₹3 billion (~$34.4 million) for three blocks or a capacity of 900 MW
  • ₹4 billion (~$45.9 million) for four blocks or a capacity of 1,200 MW

In September last year, BHEL floated a tender for installing, testing, and commissioning a 2.5 MW rooftop solar project at the Yadadri thermal power project in Bhuvanagiri, Telangana.

In June 2024, BHEL issued a tender for 1.6 MW solar projects at its Heavy Plates and Vessels Plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
