A soldier was injured after being hit by a bullet in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector on Friday. The soldier was manning a forward post in Battal area near the LoC when he was hit by the bullet on his shoulder. As per reports, Pakistan troops of 10 POK carried out a sniper attack on the Indian post. The injured was immediately evacuated to the hospital where he is responding positively to the treatment.
This comes just two days after a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Army along the LoC in Poonch district.
According to initial reports, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
The rise in cross-border firing comes amidst reports of a Pakistan politician calling for jihad against India. Anwaar ul-Haq announced that his government would mobilise all available resources to expel Indian forces from Jammu and Kashmir.
India has consistently maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country, and any attempts to disrupt peace in the region will be met with firm resolve.
This latest development occurs amid rising discontent in PoK, where locals have become increasingly vocal about Pakistan’s interference in their political and economic matters.
