There’s no doubt in my mind that GTA 6 is going to be beyond huge. Grand Theft Auto 5 has been going from strength to strength for over a decade at this point, so it stands to reason that Rockstar’s sequel will be even bigger. Everyone with a PC is still waiting to hear exactly when we can start playing the new GTA, however, as Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two just has it listed for consoles only right now. That all might change soon though, as CEO Strauss Zelnick teases GTA 6 while opening up about the PC market.
As of this very moment, the GTA 6 release date is up in the air. Zelnick says we can still expect it in fall 2025, but that leaves us PC players out in the cold. We only know that the open-world game is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S right now, with the computer launch yet to be confirmed.
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 all came to PC after initially launching on consoles, so it stands to reason that GTA 6 will follow this trend. While we wait for confirmation, however, Zelnick has teased how Take-Two’s approach to PC has changed, and what this could mean for the game.
“So with Civ 7, it’s available on console and PC and Switch right away,” Zelnick tells IGN in a new interview. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

“We have seen PC become a much more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue. Of course, there will be a new console generation,” Zelnick continues.
The Take-Two CEO also thinks there’s going to be a big uptick in console sales this year, undoubtedly due to GTA 6, but still has his eyes on the PC market. “I think the trend that you’d want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC.”
While Zelnick doesn’t outright confirm when GTA 6 is coming to PC, it does sound like he’s confident that Rockstar’s next crime epic will come to computers at some point. With some analysts already predicting that the next Grand Theft Auto will generate over $1 billion in pre-order sales alone, I hesitate to think how big the PC launch will be.
