Enshrouded was one of myriad survival games that dropped in 2024, but it is, perhaps, one of the best-rated. While competitors like Nightingale and Bellwright struggled to stick the landing, Keen Games’ ARPG and base-builder hybrid has just surpassed a colossal four million players and isn’t slowing down any time soon. Its new update, Thralls of Twilight, is set for May, and, as the name might suggest, focuses on a series of nighttime adventures. With a shiny new weapon, fresh enemies, and a whole slew of oddities lurking in the shadows, now’s a great time to return to Embervale.
Enshrouded‘s Thralls of Twilight update is focused on moonlit romps through the Shroud. The forests and chasms of Embervale are teeming with life at the best of times, but the survival game‘s latest installment adds a range of new, night-themed foes to the roster – and, of course, troves of fresh loot.

Said enemies are described as “creeping, crawling, and stalking,” and going by the trailer below they’ll put up quite the fight. The alien, spider-like creature is absolutely going to haunt my dreams, but we also see various Flameborn facing off against everything from giant, hammer-wielding ogres to huge scarabs and jellyfish-esque entities.
But amid the chaos there’s a new weapon customization mechanic just waiting to be found, perhaps related to the glowing purple altar we see in the video. The update also adds gems, which enhance your gear to let you further hone your playstyle. These are craftable, customizable, and fully destructible, and will no doubt become a critical part of your build.
To top it all off, Enshrouded has also passed a major milestone, with over four million Flameborn joining the fight. There’s exciting things in the works, and the 2025 roadmap is looking stacked already. Named pets and a new barber? Count me in.
Enshrouded’s Thralls of Twilight update will be released in May. In the meantime, however, you can pick it up for 20% off, or $23.99 / £19.99 until Sunday April 13. Just head over to Steam.
